1 John 5:18 (NA...Hi Jill,<br /><br />A verse came to mind: <br /><br />1 John 5:18 (NAS) We know that no one who is born of God sins; but He who was born of God keeps him, and the evil one does not touch him.<br /><br />The commentary in my Bible says that in this verse, the verb "touch" in the Greek does not mean a superficial touch, but actually means "to grasp or hold on". So in other words, if someone is truly in Christ, the enemy cannot hold onto them indefinitely. They may be misled for a season, but God's children are always brought back to Him. Always.<br /><br />The Galatians were bewitched for a short time into thinking they could be sanctified by works (Gal 3)... the Corinthians went overboard in their charismatic ways for a season (book of 1 Cor)... the Colossians got stuck for while in asceticism (book of Col)... but the one who is born from above hears the Shepherd's voice and a stranger they will not follow. <br /><br />Walking in true freedom in Christ is hard... the enemy is always looking for SOME way to get a believer off track.
