The Wonderful Shrinking Shirt

A spectacular story for everyone!

The wife suggests a new shirt for her husband
which he just loves and so does everyone else.

When the wash days come and go, the adventures continue!
A very silly, very sweet story!

The illustrations are done in ink with some purple and yellow.
Very unique!

Remembering... my loving mother raised me...
and then, how I raised my precious children.
This is another sweet, treasured book:

"My mother gave me warmth, security, freedom, room to grow, sweet surprises, friendship, faith, a sense of wonder, dreams, the courage to believe them, childhood, pure and joyful...and long before anyone else did, my mother showed me what love really is."
A book to treasure!

Life is Short: Make it Right and Apologize

Charles Schultz could write so many moral dilemmas for us to watch play out.

I am thankful for this story where Peppermint Patty has terribly hurt Charlie Brown's feelings.  She tries to solve the situation her own way by just acting tough, which only makes the hurt worse.  Finally Marcy steps in to point out what must happen to make things right again.

Moral Lesson: If you have chosen wrongly and thus hurt another person's feelings, you need to turn around, repent, and change what you have made wrong, and then truly apologize to those you have hurt.

Life is short.

Do the right thing
and glorify the LORD God Almighty.

An Autumn story with a bird watcher

Another lovely story with wit, wildlife, beautiful art work,
and a happy ending.

The Audubon Cat is really Hilda who is an avid bird watcher.

this is why we named our first calico, Audubon,
as she loved to watch the birds.

The Him in #Metoo

Excellent blog post at A Lady of Reason, titled #HimToo, countering the "witch hunt" mentality which has sadly become the norm in our culture.

This is just another form of manipulation and control by certain peoples.

"...Women, like men, are simply human, for good and for bad. To think anything else, is to put women on a very condescending pedestal, treating her as childlike, instead of seeing her simply as a fallible human...."

Autumn on a misty day

Praising the LORD for the beauty of His creation!

Psalm 147:7-11
"Sing to the Lord with thanksgiving;
Sing praises to our God on the lyre,

Who covers the heavens with clouds,
Who provides rain for the earth,
Who makes grass to grow on the mountains.

He gives to the beast its food,
And to the young ravens which cry.

He does not delight in the strength of the horse;
He does not take pleasure in the legs of a man.

The Lord favors those who fear Him,
Those who wait for His lovingkindness."

A very special something to Him!

God Meant it for Good

"But God sent me ahead of you to preserve for you a remnant on earth and to save your lives by a great deliverance. So then, it was not you who sent me here, but God."
Genesis 45:7-8

Whenever I become troubled by crazy things that happen to me, I turn to the story of Joseph in the Bible. There was somebody who really went through bizarre circumstances! But think about it…

If Joseph had not been sold to those caravan traders by his wicked brothers, he would not have been sold as a slave to Pharaoh.

And if Joseph had not become Pharaoh's right-hand man, no one would have thought to build giant grain silos to ward off the seven-year famine.

And if the famine hadn't happened, Jacob and his family would never have come to Egypt for food and safety.

And if Jacob's family weren't in Egypt, there would have been no slave laborers.

And if no slaves, no Exodus. And no Mt. Sinai and the giving of the law to Moses. And no Promised Land. And, finally, no line of Judah from which the Messiah, Jesus Christ, would come.

***It is enthralling to see how the troubles of one young man named Joseph could kick-start a whole chain of earthshaking events which would ultimately lead to our salvation. Oh, the wisdom and knowledge of God!

Joseph's story could be yours. Only heaven will reveal the incredibly complex intertwining of events in which you have played a pivotal role. Like Joseph, you may not be able to discern it at the time,

***but God has it all in hand...He has it all in control...and you, dear friend, are needed in His marvelous plan to spread His kingdom in your corner of the world.

God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, thank You for the awe-inspiring lessons about Your sovereignty which You teach us through the story of Joseph.

Thank You for Your dominion and rule, not only in his life, but mine.

***Praise the LORD!  All that we go through in this fallen world is known by the LORD and He is our strength to keep going for Him! Do not ever believe the lie that you are a “nothing”—-because each of us is a very special “something” for Him!

The Year at Maple Hill Farm

Another excellent picture book written by the Provensens.  This one is just as wonderful with what it is like on a farm through each month of the year. Very sweet, with special humor.

A treasure!  Search for it, and you will be thankful you did!

Our Animal Friends

This picture book is one of our most favorites.

Wonderful illustrations with the story full of descriptions of farm animals with plenty of opportunities to laugh.  You can easily imagine what it is like on this farm.

A special treasure worth seeking out.
