Kindness and Truth in your own life

Proverbs 3:3-6

..."Do not let kindness and truth leave you;

Bind them around your neck,

Write them on the tablet of your heart.

So you will find favor and good repute

In the sight of God and man.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart

And do not lean on your own understanding.

In all your ways acknowledge Him,

And He will make your paths straight.

He is My Portion and so I Hope in Him

-Scotland on the Net
*

Lamentations 3:1-3, 7-9, 21-24, 37-40

1) I am the man who has seen affliction
Because of the rod of His wrath.

He has driven me and made me walk
In darkness and not in light.

Surely against me He has turned His hand
Repeatedly all the day...

...7) He has walled me in so that I cannot go out;
He has made my chain heavy.

Even when I cry out and call for help,
He shuts out my prayer.

He has blocked my ways with hewn stone;
He has made my paths crooked...

...21) This I recall to my mind,
Therefore I have hope.

The Lord’s lovingkindnesses indeed never cease,
For His compassions never fail.

They are new every morning;
Great is Your faithfulness.

“The Lord is my portion,” says my soul,
“Therefore I have hope in Him.”

The Lord is good to those who wait for Him,
To the person who seeks Him.

It is good that he waits silently
For the salvation of the Lord...

...37) Who is there who speaks and it comes to pass,

Unless the Lord has commanded it?

Is it not from the mouth of the Most High

That both good and ill go forth?

Why should any living mortal, or any man,

Offer complaint in view of his sins?

Let us examine and probe our ways,

And let us return to the Lord..."

Precious and Magnificent Promises

2 Peter 1

"To those who have received a faith of the same kind as ours, by the righteousness of our God and Savior, Jesus Christ:

Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord;

seeing that His divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence.

For by these He has granted to us His precious and magnificent promises, so that by them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world by lust.

Now for this very reason also, applying all diligence, in your faith supply moral excellence, and in your moral excellence, knowledge, and in your knowledge, self-control, and in your self-control, perseverance, and in your perseverance, godliness, and in your godliness, brotherly kindness, and in your brotherly kindness, love.

For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they render you neither useless nor unfruitful in the true knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

For he who lacks these qualities is blind or short-sighted, having forgotten his purification from his former sins.

Therefore, brethren, be all the more diligent to make certain about His calling and choosing you; for as long as you practice these things, you will never stumble;

for in this way the entrance into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ will be abundantly supplied to you.

Therefore, I will always be ready to remind you of these things, even though you already know them, and have been established in the truth which is present with you.

I consider it right, as long as I am in this earthly dwelling, to stir you up by way of reminder, knowing that the laying aside of my earthly dwelling is imminent, as also our Lord Jesus Christ has made clear to me.

And I will also be diligent that at any time after my departure you will be able to call these things to mind.

For we did not follow cleverly devised tales when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of His majesty.

For when He received honor and glory from God the Father, such an utterance as this was made to Him by the Majestic Glory,

“This is My beloved Son with whom I am well-pleased”—

and we ourselves heard this utterance made from heaven when we were with Him on the holy mountain.

So we have the prophetic word made more sure, to which you do well to pay attention as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star arises in your hearts.

But know this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture is a matter of one’s own interpretation, for no prophecy was ever made by an act of human will, but men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God."

Praise the LORD!

 Luke 1

"Inasmuch as many have undertaken to compile an account of the things accomplished among us, just as they were handed down to us by those who from the beginning were eyewitnesses and servants of the word, it seemed fitting for me as well, having investigated everything carefully from the beginning, to write it out for you in consecutive order, most excellent Theophilus; so that you may know the exact truth about the things you have been taught.

In the days of Herod, king of Judea, there was a priest named Zacharias, of the division of Abijah; and he had a wife from the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elizabeth.

They were both righteous in the sight of God, walking blamelessly in all the commandments and requirements of the Lord.

But they had no child, because Elizabeth was barren, and they were both advanced in years....

...After these days Elizabeth his wife became pregnant, and she kept herself in seclusion for five months, saying,

“This is the way the Lord has dealt with me in the days when He looked with favor upon me, to take away my disgrace among men.”

Now in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city in Galilee called Nazareth, to a virgin engaged to a man whose name was Joseph, of the descendants of David; and the virgin’s name was Mary.

And coming in, he said to her,

“Greetings, favored one! The Lord is with you.”

But she was very perplexed at this statement, and kept pondering what kind of salutation this was.

The angel said to her,

“Do not be afraid, Mary; for you have found favor with God.

And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall name Him Jesus.

He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David;and He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and His kingdom will have no end.” ...

...Now at this time Mary arose and went in a hurry to the hill country, to a city of Judah, and entered the house of Zacharias and greeted Elizabeth.

When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the baby leaped in her womb; and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit.

And she cried out with a loud voice and said,

“Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb!

And how has it happened to me, that the mother of my Lord would come to me?

For behold, when the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the baby leaped in my womb for joy.

And blessed is she who believed that there would be a fulfillment of what had been spoken to her by the Lord.”...

We Rest Our Hope in You

O God of mercy, God of light,

in love and mercy infinite,

teach us, as ever in your sight,

to live our lives in you.

You sent your Son to die for all,

that our lost world might hear your call;

oh, hear us lest we stray and fall!

We rest our hope in you.

Teach us the lesson Jesus taught:

to feel for those his blood has bought,

that ev'ry deed and word and thought

may work a work for you.

For all are kindred, both far and wide,

since Jesus Christ for all has died;

grant us the will, and grace provide,

to love them all in you.

In sickness, sorrow, want, or care,

may we each other's burdens share;

may we, where help is needed, there

give help as though to you.

And may your Holy Spirit move

all those who live to live in love,

till you receive in heav'n above

all those who live in you.

Perseverance, Encouragement, Trusting

 Romans 15:4-6, 13

..."For whatever was written in earlier times was written for our instruction, so that through perseverance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.

Now may the God who gives perseverance and encouragement grant you to be of the same mind with one another according to Christ Jesus, so that with one accord you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ...

...Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you will abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit."...

Romans 8:24-39

..."For in hope we have been saved, but hope that is seen is not hope; for who hopes for what he already sees?

But if we hope for what we do not see, with perseverance we wait eagerly for it.

In the same way the Spirit also helps our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words; and He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.

And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.

For those whom He foreknew, He also predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son, so that He would be the firstborn among many brethren; and these whom He predestined, He also called; and these whom He called, He also justified; and these whom He justified, He also glorified.

What then shall we say to these things?

If God is for us, who is against us?

He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him over for us all, how will He not also with Him freely give us all things?

Who will bring a charge against God’s elect?

God is the one who justifies; who is the one who condemns?

Christ Jesus is He who died, yes, rather who was raised, who is at the right hand of God, who also intercedes for us.

Who will separate us from the love of Christ?

Will tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?

Just as it is written,

“For Your sake we are being put to death all day long;
We were considered as sheep to be slaughtered.”

But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us.

For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord."

Fearful

Isaiah 41:10

‘Do not fear,

for I am with you;

Do not anxiously look about you,

for I am your God.

I will strengthen you,

surely I will help you,

Surely I will uphold you

with My righteous right hand.’

Tolerance

1 John 1

"What was from the beginning, what we have heard, what we have seen with our eyes, what we have looked at and touched with our hands, concerning the Word of Life— and the life was manifested, and we have seen and testify and proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and was manifested to us—  what we have seen and heard we proclaim to you also, so that you too may have fellowship with us; and indeed our fellowship is with the Father, and with His Son Jesus Christ.

These things we write, so that our joy may be made complete.

This is the message we have heard from Him and announce to you, that God is Light, and in Him there is no darkness at all.

If we say that we have fellowship with Him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth; but if we walk in the Light as He Himself is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin.

If we say that we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us.

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar and His word is not in us."

Need a Lift?

Philippians 4

"Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice!

Let your gentle spirit be known to all men.

The Lord is near.

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.

And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Finally, brethren,

whatever is true,

whatever is honorable,

whatever is right,

whatever is pure,

whatever is lovely,

whatever is of good repute,

if there is any excellence and
if anything worthy of praise,
dwell on these things.

The things you have learned and
received and heard and seen in me,
practice these things,
and the God of peace will be with you."...

"A Manner in Time"

-PLUGGERS

*

We are blessed to live in an area where many, many people have grown up around here learning to live and act with good manners.

Joy!

We were raised with manners also even though in a different state so learning manners can happen with lots of people which is really a good thing! :o)

When people, young or old, behave badly around others we all know:

#1 they did not grow up here

and/or

#2 they were never taught proper manners

'Tis a real shame and a sorrowful one. Life has been becoming more rude and mean.

Our only hope is in Jesus!

2 Timothy 4:1-5

"I solemnly charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by His appearing and His kingdom:

preach the word;

be ready in season and out of season;

reprove,

rebuke,

exhort,

with great patience and instruction.

For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine;

but wanting to have their ears tickled,

they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires,

and will turn away their ears from the truth and will turn aside to myths.

But you,

be sober in all things,

endure hardship,

do the work of an evangelist,

fulfill your ministry."...

The LORD alone is our Refuge from Treachery and Oppression

Psalm 62

"My soul waits in silence for God only;
From Him is my salvation.

He only is my rock and my salvation,

My stronghold;
I shall not be greatly shaken.

How long will you assail a man,

That you may murder him,
all of you,

Like a leaning wall,
like a tottering fence?

They have counseled only to thrust him down from his high position;

They delight in falsehood;

They bless with their mouth,

But inwardly they curse.

My soul,
wait in silence for God only,

For my hope is from Him.

He only is my rock and my salvation,

My stronghold;
I shall not be shaken.

On God my salvation and my glory rest;

The rock of my strength,
my refuge is in God.

Trust in Him at all times, O people;

Pour out your heart before Him;

God is a refuge for us.

Men of low degree are only vanity
and men of rank are a lie;

In the balances they go up;

They are together lighter than breath.

Do not trust in oppression

And do not vainly hope in robbery;

If riches increase,
do not set your heart upon them.

Once God has spoken;

Twice I have heard this:

That power belongs to God;

And lovingkindness is Yours, O Lord,

For You recompense a man according to his work."
