How do we live in an 85 MPH world?

I live in small town areas, by two interstates and three big towns.  In this world speeding is what people do.  Somehow the interstates turn people into speed demons going 85 MPH or more.  It is usually fine for me to do the speed limit with little troubles as the speeders fly by.

My troubles with the speeding world begin when I am on normal highways, in town, or around construction areas.  People do not want to do the speed limit.  When the speed limit is 25 MPH, this is the speed I am going to do.

So how do we live in a world where breaking the rules is normal?

Psalm 119:9-16

How can a young man keep his way pure?
By keeping it according to Your word.

With all my heart I have sought You;
Do not let me wander from Your commandments.

Your word I have treasured in my heart,
That I may not sin against You.

Blessed are You, O Lord;
Teach me Your statutes.

With my lips I have told of
All the ordinances of Your mouth.

I have rejoiced in the way of Your testimonies,
As much as in all riches.

I will meditate on Your precepts
And regard Your ways.

I shall delight in Your statutes;

I shall not forget Your word.

Hi Jill,

What a wonderful encouragement for today. I love Psalm 119.

PS - what a great picture of your family (from Role Model #22).

Hi Jill, yes we are so blessed to have His Word!

You're certainly welcome for the kindness. One of my prayers to the Lord is that He would help me speak words of edification and encouragement to others, especially because prior to my salvation, my speech most certainly reflected my unsaved condition. Additionally, I have been the recipient of much verbal harm. Many people in my life have used (and still do use) their tongues to wound me.

Now that I belong to Christ, I want to walk in the truth, and be able to bless those around me. Ephesians 4:29

Carolyn...Praise the LORD! What a beautiful testimony you have, especially in dealing with your circumstances. Thank you for sharing.

In my "church-going" experiences I have found the thought of encouraging other Believers is on the "back burner" to evangelism.

What a loss! Each of us beaten down in our past or in our present! So "we" walk around weak and wounded, when, if each of us would encourage one another and point each other to the Word, how healthy and Biblical the "Body" would be to then go evangelize with great joy!

My determination is like yours. Kindness, humbleness, encouragement, mercy, grace shown to all--even my "enemies". It is a difficult road, but I have witnessed beautiful changes in those I interact with---if only that they have been acknowledged by another person. Those simple smiles out of "wounded faces" are praise to the Father!

Out of our agonies have come great gifts from the LORD. He wastes nothing, not even our pain.

May God receive great joy and be glorified by our humble efforts!
