Pride has captured them
Legalism:
We must always be so careful not to have any sins.
PRIDE will capture us.
This has been an interesting meme;
Pride thrives on the decay of other sins
—i.e. the less of other sins you have, the more pride you have.

Ah, the "I have arrived" theology! The height of pride, the legalistic heart that looks at self as the standard of righteousness.
For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles in one point... :) Someone out there can finish this verse, right? :) I'm quoting NASB, just for help. Other versions might word it slightly differently.

Thank you, Carolyn, I know you understand the ugly intricacies of pride as we also do.
Having lived among, dealt with, and reasoned fruitlessly with haughty, prideful persons, I have been humbled more and more before the LORD.
Bitterness, haughtiness, pridefulness is actually extremely gross and ugly.
Thank you again, Carolyn :o)
James 2:10-13
For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles in one point, he has become guilty of all.
For He who said, “Do not commit adultery,” also said, “Do not commit murder.” Now if you do not commit adultery, but do commit murder, you have become a transgressor of the law.
So speak and so act as those who are to be judged by the law of liberty.
For judgment will be merciless to one who has shown no mercy; mercy triumphs over judgment.
