Who is better than the US COASTGUARD?

“The Lord is my rock
and my fortress
and my deliverer;
My God, my rock,
in whom I take refuge,
My shield and
the horn of my salvation,
my stronghold
and my refuge;
My savior,
You save me from violence.
I call upon the Lord,
who is worthy to be praised,
And I am saved from
my enemies."

Be Strong and Courageous!

As Moses ended his leadership of the exodus of Israel,
he gave them true encouragement:

Deuteronomy 31:6
"Be strong and courageous,
do not be afraid or tremble at them,
for the Lord your God is the one
who goes with you.  He will not fail you
or forsake you.”

Although, we are not the children of Israel embarking on the Promise Land, we are the LORD's dearly loved children:

Colossians 3:12-17
"So, as those who have been chosen of God,
holy and beloved, put on a heart of compassion,
kindness, humility, gentleness and patience;
bearing with one another, and forgiving each other,
whoever has a complaint against anyone;
just as the Lord forgave you, so also should you.

Beyond all these things put on love, which is
the perfect bond of unity.

Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts,
to which indeed you were called in one body;
and be thankful.

Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you,
with all wisdom teaching and admonishing
one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs,
singing with thankfulness in your hearts to God.

Whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name
of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God the Father."

Ephesians 5:1-2
"Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children;
and walk in love, just as Christ also loved you
and gave Himself up for us, an offering and a
sacrifice to God as a fragrant aroma."

We are his dearly loved children who are grafted into His chosen people Israel:

Romans 11
"...33 Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom
and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are
His judgments and unfathomable His ways!..."

In context the passage Deuteronomy 31 is for a specific time
and people, but it also demonstrates to us the LORD's attitude toward His people - even now.

So remember to Be strong and take courage in the LORD. He has His plan and it can not be thwarted! It is for His people even we who are grafted in to His family. God goes with us, He will not fail us or forsake us.

Glory to His Name!

Poppies in Remembrance Memorial Day

*
In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
    That mark our place; and in the sky
    The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
    Loved and were loved, and now we lie,
        In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
    The torch; be yours to hold it high.
    If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
        In Flanders fields.

This is the day which the Lord has made

European Gold Finch
*

..."19 Open to me the gates of righteousness;

I shall enter through them,
I shall give thanks to the Lord.

This is the gate of the Lord;

The righteous will enter through it.

I shall give thanks to You,
for You have answered me,

And You have become my salvation.

The stone which the builders rejected

Has become the chief corner stone.

This is the Lord’s doing;

It is marvelous in our eyes.

24This is the day which the Lord has made;

Let us rejoice and be glad in it"...

Omnipotent Moral Busybodies

1 Peter 5:6-11
"...God is opposed to the proud,
but gives grace to the humble.

Therefore humble yourselves
under the mighty hand of God,
that He may exalt you at the
proper time, casting all your
anxiety on Him, because He
cares for you.

Be of sober spirit, be on the alert.
Your adversary, the devil, prowls
around like a roaring lion, seeking
someone to devour.

But resist him, firm in your faith,
knowing that the same experiences
of suffering are being accomplished
by your brethren who are in the world.

After you have suffered for a little while,
the God of all grace, who called you
to His eternal glory in Christ, will Himself
perfect, confirm, strengthen and establish you.

To Him be dominion forever and ever. Amen..."

Resentment is Effortless

Gratitude Needs Remembrance

"Only when people remember the good
others have done for them
will they have gratitude.

Unfortunately,
however,
most people
remember the bad people
have done to them
far longer than the good.

Or to put it another way,
gratitude takes effort;
resentment is effortless."

Dennis Prager,
The Rational Bible, Exodus:
God, Slavery, and Freedom, pg.111
*

"Therefore, laying aside falsehood, speak truth
each one of you with his neighbor,
for we are members of one another.

Be angry, and yet do not sin;
do not let the sun go down on your anger,
and do not give the devil an opportunity.

He who steals must steal no longer;
but rather he must labor,
performing with his own hands what is good,
so that he will have something to share
with one who has need.

Let no unwholesome word proceed from your mouth,
but only such a word as is good for edification
according to the need of the moment,
so that it will give grace to those who hear.

Do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God,
by whom you were sealed
for the day of redemption.

Let all bitterness and wrath
and anger
and clamor
and slander
be put away from you,
along with all malice.

Be kind to one another,
tender-hearted,
forgiving each other,
just as God in Christ also has forgiven you."

Humility Goes Before Honor

Proverbs 11:16-17
A gracious woman attains honor,
And ruthless men attain riches.
The merciful man does himself good,
But the cruel man does himself harm.

Proverbs 18:12
"Before destruction the heart of man is haughty,
But humility goes before honor."

Proverbs 21:13
"He who shuts his ear to the cry of the poor
Will also cry himself and not be answered."

Proverbs 27:19
"As in water face reflects face,
So the heart of man reflects man."

Isaiah 33:15-16
"He who walks righteously and speaks with sincerity,
He who rejects unjust gain
And shakes his hands so that they hold no bribe;
He who stops his ears from hearing about bloodshed
And shuts his eyes from looking upon evil;
He will dwell on the heights,
His refuge will be the impregnable rock;
His bread will be given him,
His water will be sure."

1 Peter 2:9-17
"...you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood,
a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession,
so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him
who has called you out of darkness into
His marvelous light; for you once were not a people,
but now you are the people of God;
you had not received mercy,
but now you have received mercy.
Beloved, I urge you as aliens and strangers
to abstain from fleshly lusts which wage war
against the soul.

Keep your behavior excellent among the Gentiles,
so that in the thing in which they slander you as evildoers,
they may because of your good deeds, as they observe them,
glorify God in the day of visitation.

Submit yourselves for the Lord’s sake to every human
institution, whether to a king as the one in authority,
or to governors as sent by him for the punishment
of evildoers and the praise of those who do right.

For such is the will of God that by doing right
you may silence the ignorance of foolish men.

Act as free men, and do not use your freedom
as a covering for evil, but use it as bondslaves of God.

Honor all people, love the brotherhood,
fear God, honor the king."

One Lie leads to another, and another and another...

"A lie keeps growing and growing until it is as plain as the nose on your face.

A boy who won't be good might just as well be made out of wood."
-The Good Fairy, Walt Disney's Pinocchio

Proverbs 6:16-23
"There are six things which the Lord hates,

Yes, seven which are an abomination to Him:

Haughty eyes, a lying tongue,

And hands that shed innocent blood,

A heart that devises wicked plans,

Feet that run rapidly to evil,

A false witness who utters lies,

And one who spreads strife among brothers.

My son, observe the commandment
of your father

And do not forsake the teaching
of your mother;

Bind them continually on your heart;

Tie them around your neck.

When you walk about, they will guide you;
When you sleep, they will watch over you;

And when you awake, they will talk to you.

For the commandment is a lamp
and the teaching is light;

And reproofs for discipline are the way of life."

Narrow Little Road

I believe in the love of God
It is an orphan's wildest dream
It is a narrow little road
It is an ever-widening desert stream

Oh I, and I
I will leave this road
For the narrow

It is portrayed in the bread and wine
Let it fortify my bones
It is more than just a sign
It is the fountain from that desert stone

Oh I, and I
I will leave this road
For the narrow

It is the path where the humble go
It is the narrow not the broad
It is the pathway down the hill
To the graveyard of the living God

Oh I, and I
I will leave this road
For the narrow

The love of God is the hymn of hope
Let the needy join the throng
Let the widow hear and cope
Let the crippled rise to sing this song

Oh I, and I
I will leave this road
For the narrow

Matthew 7:13-14
“Enter through the narrow gate;
for the gate is wide and the way
is broad that leads to destruction,
and there are many who enter through it.

For the gate is small and the way
is narrow that leads to life,
and there are few who find it."

Happy Mother's Day. Wisdom and Instruction: It was All for Their Protection

"To know wisdom and instruction,

To discern the sayings of understanding,

To receive instruction in wise behavior,

Righteousness,
justice and equity;

To give prudence to the naive,

To the youth knowledge
and discretion,

A wise man will hear and increase in learning,

And a man of understanding will acquire wise counsel,

 To understand a proverb and a figure,

The words of the wise and their riddles.

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge;

Fools despise wisdom and instruction.

Hear, my son, your father’s instruction

And do not forsake your mother’s teaching;

Indeed, they are a graceful wreath to your head

And ornaments about your neck.

My son, if sinners entice you,
Do not consent.

If they say,
“Come with us,

Let us lie in wait for blood,

Let us ambush the innocent without cause;

Let us swallow them alive like Sheol,

Even whole,
as those who go down to the pit;

We will find all kinds of precious wealth,

We will fill our houses with spoil;

Throw in your lot with us,

We shall all have one purse,”

My son, do not walk in the way with them.

Keep your feet from their path,

For their feet run to evil

And they hasten to shed blood.

Indeed,
it is useless to spread the baited net

In the sight of any bird;

But they lie in wait for their own blood;

They ambush their own lives.

So are the ways of everyone
who gains by violence;

It takes away the life of its possessors.

Wisdom shouts in the street,

She lifts her voice in the square;

At the head of the noisy streets she cries out;

At the entrance of the gates
in the city she utters her sayings:

“How long, O naive ones,
will you love being simple-minded?

And scoffers delight themselves in scoffing

And fools hate knowledge?

“Turn to my reproof,
Behold,
I will pour out my spirit on you;

I will make my words known to you.

“Because I called and you refused,

I stretched out my hand
and no one paid attention;

And you neglected all my counsel

And did not want my reproof;

I will also laugh at your calamity;

I will mock when your dread comes,

When your dread comes like a storm

And your calamity comes like a whirlwind,

When distress and anguish come upon you.

“Then they will call on me,
but I will not answer;

They will seek me diligently
but they will not find me,

Because they hated knowledge

And did not choose the fear of the Lord.

“They would not accept my counsel,

They spurned all my reproof.

“So they shall eat of the fruit of their own way

And be satiated with their own devices.

“For the waywardness of the naive will kill them,

And the complacency of fools will destroy them.

“But he who listens to me shall live securely

And will be at ease from the dread of evil.”

Proverbs 1:7-10
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge;

Fools despise wisdom and instruction.

Hear, my son, your father’s instruction

And do not forsake your mother’s teaching;

And ornaments about your neck.

True Life out of Great Loss

"Don't build your happiness on other's sorrows"

Surprisingly this quote was found on a fortune cookie slip, even so, how wise a statement. If you live your life in an "all about ME" mode then your happiness will come with a huge price: the destruction of others in your wake.

Certain people live only for themselves. Everything about them is for their own gain, their own pleasure, their own glory.

Sometimes these people can "hide" these attributes of themselves, but eventually their sins will be laid bare, as if "naked in the middle of the street". This is when all of us will have the chance to know and see who they really, truly are. Their sins will no longer be hidden.

This is the LORD's job. He will allow these sinners to seemingly "get away with" their grand selfishness until He completely holds them accountable.

Psalm 73
"...Surely You set them in slippery places; You cast them down to destruction..."

If you are one who has been injured, damaged, broken, ruined by such manipulation, control, arrogance and selfishness you can still live your life to its fullest even in your great loss.

The way to do this is to accept Jesus as your Savior and then trust Him to help you each day, each moment to go beyond your agonies to live in His joy. Your pain and injuries may still be right there with you, but when you allow Jesus to be your Savior you can find His joy in this life!

Jesus Saves your soul, and He can also save you from the brunt of your agonies and your lost joy if you allow Him to fill you with the joy which is in Him.

This is our choice. He is always there for us. We need to choose each day, each moment to walk in Him.

We can find true life in Jesus out of our great losses! Praises!

Isaiah 42:1-4
“Behold, My Servant, whom I uphold;
My chosen one in whom My soul delights.
I have put My Spirit upon Him;
He will bring forth justice to the nations.

“He will not cry out or raise His voice,
Nor make His voice heard in the street.

“A bruised reed He will not break
And a dimly burning wick He will not extinguish;
He will faithfully bring forth justice.

“He will not be disheartened or crushed
Until He has established justice in the earth;

And the coastlands will wait expectantly for His law.”

and just as Jesus heals on the Sabbath:

Matthew 12:20
"... “A battered reed He will not break off,
And a smoldering wick He will not put out,

Romans 12: 14-21
"...Bless those who persecute you;
bless and do not curse.

Rejoice with those who rejoice,
and weep with those who weep.

Be of the same mind toward one another;
do not be haughty in mind,
but associate with the lowly.

Do not be wise in your own estimation.

Never pay back evil for evil to anyone.

Respect what is right in the sight of all men.

If possible, so far as it depends on you,
be at peace with all men.

Never take your own revenge, beloved,
but leave room for the wrath of God, for it is written,

“Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord.

“But if your enemy is hungry, feed him,
and if he is thirsty, give him a drink;
for in so doing you will heap burning coals on his head.”

Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good."

Nehemiah 8:10

And with everyone grieving over their sins:

"...Nehemiah said,

“Go and enjoy choice food and sweet drinks,
and send some to those who have nothing prepared.

This day is holy to our Lord.

Do not grieve, for the joy of the Lord is your strength...”
