Majestic Things

Psalm 8

Lord, our Lord,

How majestic is Your name in all the earth,

You who have displayed Your splendor above the heavens!

From the mouths of infants and nursing babies

You have established strength

Because of Your enemies,

To do away with the enemy and the revengeful.

When I consider Your heavens,

the work of Your fingers,

The moon and the stars,

which You have set in place;

What is man that You think of him,

And a son of man that You are concerned about him?

Yet You have made him a little lower than God,

And You crown him with glory and majesty!

You have him rule over the works of Your hands;

You have put everything under his feet,

All sheep and oxen,

And also the animals of the field,

The birds of the sky, and the fish of the sea,

Whatever passes through the paths of the seas.

Lord, our Lord,

How majestic is Your name in all the earth!

Hi Jill,

I love Psalm 8!!! The photo goes perfectly with that passage!

Of course the photo also turned into another song in my mind... The hills are alive with the sound of music... :)

I must be on a Sound of Music kick.

Thank you, Carolyn. Yes, Psalm 8 is wonderful!

Music is a powerful:

"For whether you wish to comfort the sad, to terrify the happy, to encourage the despairing, to humble the proud, to calm the passionate, or to appease those full of hate—and who could number all these masters of the human heart, namely, the emotions, inclinations, and affections that impel men to evil or good?—what more effective means than music could you find?"

Martin Luther. Cited by John Makujina in Measuring the Music, pg. 228

And

Music by way of symbol and referent is capable of transmitting human feelings and ideologies, some of which have deep ethical implications.

Jill,

Those quotes are so right - music is powerful and can communicate messages. Our Creator gave us such a wonderful gift - may we use it for His glory!

Absolutely! He delights when we enjoy our lives in His creation.

Psalm 37
"Delight yourself in the Lord;
And He will give you the desires of your heart."
