This world is not our home. When "christianity" comes in so many flavors it is a danger that we must keep up on. Don't just go along with what sounds good. Be a Berean!

Don't feel dumb that you listened to falsehood, but instead Glorify God that you have learned the truth! Don't remain in falsehoods. Get in His word and continue to follow Him in truth. The world is watching and when they see you, don't you want them to see the real Jesus?
Galatians 1:6-10 "I am amazed that you are so quickly deserting Him who called you by the grace of Christ, for a different gospel..."

Good encouragement! Our Sunday School class is named the Bereans, and for good reason.
It is important to know the truth, and the earlier the better. Practically speaking, it is much easier to play spiritual defense (keeping people out of cults and false theology) than offense (getting them to change once they hold false views).
Neil, I appreciate your comment and agree whole heartedly.
Although I do have a caveat: Even some people who know the truth will stay in a deceived teaching because of their investment in it.
Then there are the sociological cults which can be just as deceptive and hold their followers by fear, control and manipulation also.
Both of these kinds of people can wield their power in Jesus' precious name.
Oh LORD, help us in discernment!
